The Space Had Potential, Just Not Function

The back entry existed, but it wasn't doing much for her. No dedicated storage, no natural light, and nowhere for gear to land before it ended up scattered through the rest of the house. Every wet or snowy day meant tracking mess further inside than she wanted.

What We Built

We designed the space to work as hard as the New England seasons demand, without losing any square footage in the process. Custom storage was built right into the wall, giving her real organization for coats, bags, and shoes.

A new window brings in natural light and keeps the room from feeling closed off, even on gray days. We finished the floor in tile that's easy to wipe down after a slushy walk in from the car, and topped it off with a bird and floral wallpaper that turns a purely functional space into one she genuinely likes walking through.

A Month, Start to Finish

The whole project came together in just over a month. What stands out most in the final result is how natural it looks. The mudroom doesn't read as an addition tacked onto the house. It looks like it's always been there.
