Stunning Medford Bathroom Remodel: From Outdated to Mid-Century Modern Oasis
At A-Z Finish Carpentry, we believe that your bathroom should be a personal sanctuary. Recently, we had the pleasure of completing a full bathroom renovation in Medford, transforming a tired, dated layout into a breathtaking, mid-century modern-inspired retreat.
The "Before": Ready for a Change
The original bathroom had certainly seen better days. It featured an outdated vanity, red floor tiles, and white square wall tiles accented with a red border. The space felt cramped and lacked the modern elegance our clients were dreaming of. It was time for a complete overhaul.
The Process: Demolition and Custom Framing
To achieve a truly custom result, we started with a blank canvas. We brought the bathroom entirely down to the studs, removing the old fixtures, drywall, and flooring.
Once the demolition was complete, our carpentry expertise came into play. We meticulously reframed the space, which included building out a custom framed structure for built-in shelving right next to the shower area. Proper framing is the hidden backbone of any high-quality bathroom remodeling project, ensuring everything from the drywall to the tile sits perfectly level and secure.
The Tile Installation: A Green Vertical Masterpiece
The tile selection for this project is where the design truly shines. We installed striking, matte green vertical subway tiles as a wainscoting half-wall around the bathroom perimeter, pairing it beautifully with a light, subtly patterned gray floor tile.
For the shower enclosure, we carried that gorgeous green tile all the way up and across the ceiling, creating a seamless, spa-like alcove. We built out custom recessed niches for toiletries and finished the shower floor with a complementary light gray penny-hex tile and a clean white curb.
The "After": A Mid-Century Modern Retreat
The final result is nothing short of spectacular. The bathroom now boasts a stunning wood-grain mid-century vanity paired with a sleek, vessel-style sink and a modern wall-mounted brass faucet. A simple globe pendant light hangs above, perfectly complementing the warm wood tones of the mirror and vanity.
Inside the shower, we installed luxurious brushed gold/brass fixtures, including a rainfall showerhead and a handheld wand, all enclosed by frameless glass. The custom built-in shelves we framed earlier now offer beautiful, accessible storage for fresh towels and decor.
